Rev. Fr. John Cox "My Testimony"

My father and mother converted to Christ as teens, and lived a ministry life. Christ was in our home. As “Billy Graham evangelicals,” Kingdom service and regular exposure to God’s word were “normal” living for us. I was born again July 31, 1972 while attending summer camp in NY. From that day on, I experienced Jesus’ love, forgiveness and His gracious presence.

Through the “Jesus movement” response to the Woodstock era, I experienced the love of Christ reaching into my passions and late teen culture. Jesus guided me through my spiritual conflicts with the 70’s and 80’s arsenal of the world, the flesh and the evil one. I have experienced Christ’s church as a profoundly safe, discipling community served by passionate, yet imperfect people. I labor to see the local church emerge as a redeemed family; a community where the little ones, the lost, the hurting and searching can thrive, mature and reproduce joyously in the power of the Holy Spirit; transforming lives, families, cities and nations for the glory of our reigning King Jesus!

Personal Cathy and I were married on Feb. 16, 1991. Cathy completed a 15-year career with Walt Disney World Creative Costuming department’s stage, film and television productions so that we could raise our two children, Jaunel and Isaac. They were homeschooled into high-school. Cathy continues as a free-lance costume designer.

In my early 20’s I was a union carpenter, owned a cabinet shop, and remodeled houses during my seminary days. I enjoy golfing; the beach and surfing; all kinds of music; reading varieties of history and classic British mysteries; leisure and missions travel.
